Waimangu Shuttle Bus
Our internal shuttle bus (fare included in admissions) will return you to the Waimangu entrance from the end of your walk, hike or boat cruise. You can also use the shuttle bus to transfer between bus stops in the Valley, thus reducing walking distances.

Waimangu Walking Tours (Self Guided)
Adult: $34.50; Child: (6-16 years) $11.00; Under 6 Free
Family (2 adults and two or more children):  $80.00.   

Waimangu Highlights Walk:  Entrance to Bus Stop One, via main Valley walkway
Our highlights walk shows you Southern Crater, Echo Crater, Frying Pan Lake, Inferno Crater and Birds Nest Terrace. 
1.5 km - Allow 1 hour*  Suitable for most levels of fitness
Last admission: 15.40 for 17.00 close, except during January - 16.40 for 18.00 close

Waimangu Easy Walk:  Entrance to Lake Rotomahana via main Valley walkway
Easy walking along the crater walkways, mainly downhill and flat.  Our most popular walk is 4km to see all the hot springs and Lake Rotomahana.
4 km - Allow 1.5 hours*  Suitable for most levels of fitness
Last admission: 15.00 for 17.00 close, except during January - 16.00 for 18.00 close

Waimangu Hiking Tour (Self Guided) 
Entrance to Lake Rotomahana via main Valley walkways and Mt Haszard hiking trail
Follow the Valley walkways and our Mt Haszard Hiking Trail from the entrance to the Lake.
Adult: $34.50; Child: (6-16 years) $11.00; Under 6 Free
Family (2 adults and two or more children): $80.00.
Allow 2 hours*  Requires good fitness. 
Walking return from the Lake to Waimangu entrance - allow 2 hours*.  For two way hike - allow 4 hours*
Recommended last admission: 14.30 for 17.00 close, except during January - 15.30 for 18.00 close

Lake Rotomahana Cruise (Full commentary)
Enjoy a 45 minute voyage around Lake Rotomahana. Learn about the 1886 Tarawera Eruption and view the wonderful hot springs that can only be seen from our boat.
Adult: $42.50; Child: (6-16 years) $11.00; Under 6: Free  (Children must be accompanied by a fare paying adult)
Family (2 adults and two or more children): $90.00.
Allow 1.5 hours*  Prior bookings for this option may be necessary in peak seasons between November and March each year.
Take the free Waimangu shuttle bus from entrance to the lake. At the end of your cruise return from lake to entrance by shuttle bus.
Cruise departs from Waimangu Visitor Center at 10.00am 11.00am, 12.50pm, 2.35pm, 3.15pm (4.10pm January).
Last check in: 15 minutes prior to above departure times.

What to Bring & Wear:
Please wear flat walking shoes and bring your camera, comfortable clothing, rain or sun protection as necessary and a baby pushchair if needed.

For the Hiking option, good walking shoes with treaded soles are recommended.


Wheelchairs:
The Waimangu walking options are wheelchair accessible. Inferno Crater can be accessed by 50 steps. Access to the valley and boat is only possible for those visitors who can move or be moved in and out of their wheelchair for negotiating bus steps, jetty steps and boat steps. Our shuttle buses do not have wheelchair lifts. People who use wheelchairs must be accompanied by competent helpers.
